Indonesia Will Not Send Its Representatives to the Final of Denmark Challenge 2024
The Indonesian badminton representatives have fought well in the quarter-finals of the Denmark International Challenge 2024. A number of foreign badminton players have just finished the final match on Saturday (11/5/2024). The Indonesian women's doubles representatives, Ridya Aulia Fatasya/Kelly Larissa, managed to qualify for the semifinals before being lost by the Japanese representatives, Kokona Ishikawa/Mio Konegawa, 14-21 and 19-21 on Friday (10/5/2024).
The defeat of the team Ridya/Kelly was the reason why Indonesia could not send its representative to the final. In the end, Indonesia did not take home a single award from this international scale competition.
On this opportunity, Indonesia sent seven representatives, but none of them qualified for the final round. One of them was Iqbal Diaz Saputra who managed to show his best performance until the quarter-finals. Unfortunately, Iqbal was unable to advance to the next round after being defeated by the Danish men's singles representative, Magnus Johannesen, on Friday (10/5/2024). The final score of the men's singles match between Indonesia and Denmark was 13-21 and 14-21. Meanwhile, another men's singles player, Kho Henriko Wibowo, did not qualify for the qualifying round.
On the other hand, in the women's singles category there are Stephanie Widjaja and Tasya Farahnallah. The two women's singles representatives also did not qualify for the final round. Stephanie was defeated in the first round with rubber game by India's women's singles representative, Devika Sihag, with a final score of 21-18, 18-21, 12-21 on Thursday (9/5/2024). Meanwhile, Tasya was defeated by another Indian representative named Shriyanshi Valishetty in three games, 21-18, 16-21, 19-21.
Indonesian men's doubles, Rahmat Hidayat/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan, also experienced failure in the second round after facing Denmark's representatives, William Kryger Boe/Christian Faust Kjaer. Denmark's third seeded team, William/Christian managed to beat Rahmat/Yeremia with a rubber game 25-23, 27-29, 14-21.
Although they failed to win an award at the 2024 Denmark Challenge, the Indonesian badminton team will continue its tournament tour in various countries, especially Southeast Asia. These tournaments are Thailand Open 2024 Super 500 on 14-19 May 2024, Malaysia Masters 2024 Super 500 on 21-26 May 2024, Singapore Open 2024 Super 750 on 28 May-2 June 2024. And the highlight is the Indonesia Open 2024 Super 1000 June 4-9, 2024.
